Three species of rhinos one one picture

The pciture was taken in the 60ty years. For space reasons, the white rhinos moved later to the elephant house.
Just a year ago you could take a picture with three rhinoceros species in Dvur Kralove ... Northrn White/Black/Indian.
And I think I am really stupid as I still see two black, two indian and one white rhinoceros. How is it possible?

It looks like you can get incredibly close to them. Kinda scary but it just amazes me how exhibits looked like back then. Good or bad I wish I could have been there before they were replaced. It reminds me of Denver's rhino cages. I think those will be renovated when Asian Tropics comes.

Fantastic photo taken in the golden era of Berlin´s zoo under the direction of Hans-Georg Kloes !

The animals were :

1,1 black rhinos (1,0 "Meru" arriving 1957 / 0,1 "Arusha" arriving 1954)
1,1 white rhinos (1,0 "Hlambamans" / 0,1 "Kuababa" arriving 1963)
1,1 indian rhinos (1,0 "Gauhati" / 0,1 "Miris"arriving 1964)

This house also keeped 1,0 Okapi ("Patrick" / arriving 1964) and 1,3 Malayan Tapirs as it was opened 1964.

The times of collecting animals like stamps are over, fortunately. Not in Berlin yet, but someday in the future, after Dr. Blaskiewitz is retired, the animals at this place will get more space, when a lot of them has left the zoo. Don't missundnerstand me, Berlin Zoo isn't bad, but there are still to much anmals in too small exhibits and houses.

Just looking at this picture again... was there not a time briefly - I think in the early 1990s - when you could see white, black and Indian rhinos all in the same building (the rhinoceros house of course) at Chester Zoo?

The white rhinos then left the collection.

As you can see on the pic, there are white, black and indian rhinos at the same time in the same building...The white rhinos left the building later and moved to the elephant house. The white rhinos dissappeared after the death of the last, very old male "Hlambamans", he died in 2002 and has lived in Berlin Zoo since 1963.

I've checked my Chester Guidebooks from the 80ty's, I could find all three species, but i don't know, if there were all together in the rhino house. In the early 90tys, ther were also rhinos in the elephant house.

They were indeed all in the same house.if memory serves me correctly they had 1.0 Southern White Rhino,1.1 Black Rhino and 1.0 Greater Indian Rhino.

There was also a time in the mid 1970s when the Elephant & Rhinoceros Pavilion (Casson Building) at London Zoo held white rhinoceros, black rhinoceros and Indian rhinoceros simultaneously. The Indian rhino in question was the female ‘Mohini’ who was at Whipsnade for more than twenty years, then spent a while in London before going to Amsterdam.

And, of course, going back much further to Victorian days, there was a time when London Zoo had four species of rhino simultaneously: black, Indian, Sumatran and Javan.
