@Springbok Well, it's clearly marketing speak but the meaning is clear enough - small things that are important.
They've changed the name of this house a couple of times over the years - mainly to reflect the amount of small vertebrates that are in there at the time. Its main purpose when built was to replace the old Invertebrate house, but originally it intentionally showcased the diversity of life - hence the corner aviaries for birds and callitrichids, and the original name 'Web of Life'. As the number of vertebrates waned and the zoo apparently found a lot of people were unable to find the invertebrates as they didn't realise this was where they were, it was renamed with the clumsy-but-functional 'B.U.G.S' - "Biodiversity Underpinning Global Survival" - so still about biodiversity but at least making it clear that if you want spiders or locusts here's where they are. Now that it is effectively replacing the Aquarium as well they apparently wanted to brand it away from inverts specifically while still making clear this is where they will be, so we have 'Tiny Giants'.
A house in search of an identity for sure, but for a long time one of the best things at London Zoo.
