It’s hard to believe it’s been one year since Australia Zoo cancelled their import of Burma, days out from her transfer. Her crate still remains in place while the zoo negotiate her export to another zoo.
@Zoofan15 Any news from your most recent trip? It appears she's doing fine, but any extended period without another elephant for socialization must be somewhat detrimental to her well-being.
@Swanson02 I posted a general update in the news thread, but nothing specific about Burma I’m afraid. It’s not an ideal situation, but I’ve noticed the keepers spending an increased amount of time with her which has surely been helping. It can’t replace social interaction with her own kind, so hopefully a move to Australia is in the works. She was previously alone from 2009 and 2015, but was delighted when Anjalee finally arrived.
