Galápagos Islands- California Sea Lion Sign

A sign informing the reader about California Sea Lions
This signage has made me think, is it more common for US zoos to display conservation status using the ESA statuses than the IUCN ones? At least for species that are on the ESA list.

@Fallax I’m not sure on that honestly, what I can tell you though is that this is very new for Houston. Galapagos is one of the only exhibits to display conservation status, as well as some miscellaneous signs around the zoo for newer species

@TheImmigrant1That is interesting, here it is very rare to see a sign that doesn't display an animals conservation status.

@Fallax yep just looked through my pictures and it seems that there aren’t any sign showing the conservation status of the displayed species, even in their second newest exhibit South America’s Pantanal. Most of the signs in the zoo are quite old (some have been around since the early 2000s) so this is very welcome change for Houston.
