Remind me, was this the exhibit that previously held Eastern giant eland (Taurotragus derbianus gigas) and Nubian red-fronted gazelle (Eudorcas rufifrons laevipes)?
@UngulateNerd92 -- This is the former bontebok exhibit. The giant eland and red-fronted gazelles were housed in the neighboring exhibit, which is currently home to addax and addra gazelles (the next photo in the gallery).
@UngulateNerd92 -- To get more animals out of holding and onto exhibit, essentially. The bontebok do well at the zoo and in traditional zoo settings, in general, so by moving out the safari park animals, it allowed the park to move the breeding slender-horned herd onto exhibit and out of holding. The bontebok at the zoo are, indeed, in the remnants of Horn & Hoof Mesa.
