A lot of the enclosures at this zoo have sturdy fences, clean and tidy lines in all directions, and some nice gravel and plantings as a perimeter area. But the space for the animals is frequently rather bare and in some cases not even close to adequate.
@snowleopard I can't say for sure, but it seems like they're in the process of upgrading all of the smaller, older wood/fence exhibits. Even though the quality of them is worlds better than a lot of non-AZA places.
@snowleopard Especially frustrating given the work and expense needed to upgrade an enclosure such as this is so small. You would have to disassemble a small section to get a tractor in, but some boulders and logs along with plantings could easily multiply the usable vertical space, provide sight line barriers, and provide a much more accurate and educational representation of the species in its natural habitat...
