Is there anything in place to motivate the rats to go from one end of the maze to the other (such as a food reward placed at one end of the maze)?
In some ways this rat exhibit reminds me of the new leaf cutter ant exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History. There, the ants go back and forth along an obstacle course where their ant nest is at one end and the place they harvest their leaves from is on the opposite end.
@ZooElephantsMan I didn't see anything like that, however all three rats I saw were in different sections of the maze, so clearly they do go between sections.
