Sumatran Tiger

I think this is one of the 2019 cubs. There’s not enough individual photos of them to confirm which one, but due to the ruff I’d guess Pemanah (the male).

@Zoofan15 @Abbey

It's the exhibit that would probably best be identified as the westernmost exhibit and inbetween the others in terms of the top of a circle/'horse-shoe' layout of the Tiger exhibits (or probably much simpler way of identifying, the one that has the mock jeep viewing for kids to climb into for an interesting up-close viewing). There was another Tiger on the other side of the same exhibit, and it seemed like the south-most exhibit may have been linked to this one.

Must say was very very impressed seeing the Tiger exhibits today. Of the many newer exhibits at Taronga recently, for some reason this really stood out to me (and the African Savannah and Nura Diya are more recent, and still impressive of course, just for some reason was quite taken with the Tigers setup).

@steveroberts Kembali and Clarence have their own exhibits; with Kartika spending time alone and time with her adult offspring. They may well seperate the male cub off soon otherwise the three females will have to be kept on contraception long term, which isn’t ideal.

@Zoofan15

I think (not in the photo) the one who was pacing the north-most exhibit might of been Kembali, the keeper said they paced around feeding time (2:30pm being one) and I think it might of been Kembali then because the keeper said ''if it was Clarence he would of growled'' (Clarence was the individual whos name I remembered off the top of my head so I mentioned ''is that Clarence?'' to the keeper when he came along). I was following the pacing Tiger backwards and forwards for about ten minutes but stopped when I thought maybe the Tiger might feel harassed having me tailing/following.

Definitely looks to be one the cubs. It's likely they had access to both exhibits as you mentioned if all three were in there (plus Kartika maybe). Kembali would've been in the first enclosure, that's usually his one. Clarence normally spends most of his time in the fig tree exhibit.

@Zoofan15

Oh wait thats the southmost exhibit right (the Moreton figtree was in the old Dhole exhibit prior). No I think I got it mixed up as it was the north-most exhibit was the one with the pacing Tiger ("doing their 'rounds' " as the keeper said). The exhibit that I think had the figtree had a Tiger so well camouflaged at the back that I also heard other visitors commenting on how good they are at camouflaging even with orange against green, then a volunteer mentioned that most herbivores are colour blind and cant see orange (which I assume means maybe they can see green and some other colors buts not orange) and that a Tiger normally can get its prey from just ten feet away.

@Jambo My mistake, I thought it was Kem who usually had the fig tree exhibit. It’s interesting how the tigers rarely rotate. Clearly they’re happier with designated exhibits to establish territories versus finding rotation enriching.

@Zoofan15 I agree its interesting that its usually Kembali in the first habitat, Kartika + the kids in the second and then Clarence in the third. Occasionally they are rotated but not as often as expected.

Back when Jumilah was still around she also spent most of her time in the first habitat (rotating with Kembali).
