Can someone explain this "flood irritation" system this zoo seems to have? I've seen it mentioned on a lot of the gallery posts but I'm curious as to what it actually is.
 
@Fallax basically they flood the yards every couple of weeks to irrigate the grass. It soaks in deep for the plants and they don't have to irrigate the area with sprinklers every day or so. IIRC Irrigating with sprinklers in the desert has a lot of aerial evaporation before it soaks in, so this helps to avoid that.
