Impala : Whipsnade : 25 Jul 2014 [V]

Aepyceros melampus. I've really been enjoying watching the five young male impala recently, now that are using the main part of Holly Frindle Paddock. It's been great to see them running around in the long grass there. I had thought that they might disappear down to the furthest corner of the paddock, but that seems not to be the case. I've also posted a three-minute video -- shot the same day -- on YouTube.
I've been enjoying watching the five young male impala (Aepyceros melampus) recently, now that are using the main part of Holly Frindle Paddock. It's been great to see them running around, sparring and chasing each other in the long (and short) grass there.

I had thought that, once they had access to this area, they might disappear down to the furthest corner of the paddock for most of the day. However, that seems not to be the case.

From memory I don't think they are particularly shy, just that they can be flighty/nervous if panicked.

Bongo on the other hand seem steady- but shyer (or at least they like to go where there is cover-trees or behind a shed if they can).
