Blue Duiker Exhibit

July 11, 2023
@TinoPup I totally agree. There were two Blue Duikers and both were inside that little hut in the shade. It was a scorching hot day. Also, you can see that there's a train track just at the back of the duiker exhibit, so a zoo train roars by every once in a while. Ugh.

@snowleopard They know they're easy prey and like safety and shade. I imagine there's some birds of prey out there that would consider taking them, too. The train by them is awful :( You can't treat all ungulates the same! I don't understand the train at Toledo being next to the cheetahs, either, but at least they can get used to it and Toledo isn't breeding them.

The zoo also has at least one Blue Duiker in with some King Vultures in this exhibit:

@snowleopard Looks like nowhere for them to hide from the vultures :( Richmond keeps some of their many klipspringers in with king vultures and the vultures will chase them around.
