This is one of the stranger hybrids that I've seen. Do you know any details about when and where this hybridization happened, Tim? Obviously it wasn't in the wild!
This specimen is labelled as a lion X jaguar hybrid. However In 1908 London Zoo acquired a triple hybrid
lion X (leopard X jaguar) that was born in Chicago.
It has been suggested that the animal displayed at Tring is actually this triple hybrid, despite the sign saying lion X jaguar hybrid, although I don’t know if that's true.
Incidentally Tring Museum also has a leopard X puma hybrid on display.
