@Cat-Man I think that these elephant exhibits at Zoo Miami are much smaller than they first appear, as there are hidden moats that are obscured from visitors. Also, the zoo hasn't had a herd of elephants for many years, and the new AZA recommendations are an absolute minimum of 4 elephants per zoo. Miami doesn't even come close to the great elephant exhibits in North America such as Dallas, Omaha, North Carolina, etc.
@snowleopard I was lucky to go behind the scenes at the zoo last year and the space has been expanded. There is a side-shifting space in addition to a doubling the size of the rear enclosure which now slopes down at a gradual angle to the back wall. Miami is probably waiting for Nellie to pass to bring in new cows to breed with Ongard.
@Cat-Man In terms of aesthetics it's the best in the country (BIASED) but in terms of size its in the middle to upper tier now that they've renovated the space when Ongard arrived.
