@Cat-Man Not that I know of - Javan langurs are a rare species in the US. There were rumors about Francois langurs (as Bronx apparently acquired the species a while ago according to LA Zoo's minutes) but they fit in a mangrove environment as well as pineapple fits on pizza. I don't wish to speculate too much, but since Indianapolis is breeding crab-eating macaques and they *do* fit in mangroves...
Looking at this old image and seeing so many Javan Langurs in the exhibit is surreal. I am so accustomed to there just being the couple of individuals who have been there for a while now.
@StoppableSan thanks! Where else are they held in the US? I had no idea they were so rare in the US; they’re *relatively common* in Europe.
Thanks for providing that information. It would be a shame to lose the mangrove element but I have to be honest, I do think it’s a rather small enclosure.
@Cat-Man only other holders are Tanganyika Wildlife Park (Kansas), The Wild Animal Park (New York) and Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Park (Michigan). Boulder Ridge just acquired them earlier this month so it looks like they'll continue to be present in private facilities. After the remaining animals at Bronx pass, I imagine that'll be the end of this species in the AZA.
