Sep. 2023 - International Chimpanzee Complex (Opening 2024)

Did they just hire the most *creatively bankrupt* architects out there? At the very least there's grass and an opportunity for the chimps to see outside this walled yard. I have a sneaking suspicion that the people who "designed" this exhibit ate library paste when they were kids...

@Bactrian Deer I mean... compare Kansas City, North Carolina and even places like Zoo Basel or Zoo Antwerpen's chimpanzee facilities to... this. I'm at least glad there's grass and outdoor opportunities for the chimps in the first place, but that can't be the bare minimum. Even in zoos with limited space (like Zoo Basel or Zoo Antwerpen), they still made it work by making the actual enclosure walls unobtrusive and maximizing the space as much as possible with netting. Do you have any more pics of the chimpanzee complex?

@StoppableSan You make great points, but I’ve met with the director before and the zoo is mainly focussing on more functional naturalism, take the IOC for example, but for what the zoo is focusing on, it is decent compared to the mega church
