Grizzly Hound

Sep. 2023 - Deserts - Mixed Species Exhibit

Bearded Dragon, Blue-tongued Skink, & Leopard Tortoise
That mural is starting to look pretty faded nowadays. It’s interesting that Indianapolis went for a more naturalistic approach in Deserts and Plains but is going all out on a functional approach in their great ape complexes.

@Grizzly Hound I didn’t either. I don’t think they would’ve gotten rid of them because of how well they breed 2 of the 3 species in there. I too didn’t see signs, I can’t remember seeing/not seeing the rhinoceros iguana. I hope they are doing an overhaul of deserts, especially considering what animals they have bts there (monitors, frilled lizards, etc.)

@ZooElephantsMan Well, when the zoo originally moved locations, both of these places were made and most things were naturalistic (except for a few exceptions; marine mammals, bears) but now it’s a new director who wants to go a functional route.
