before you pay to get in, there is a series of bird enclosures, I believe these guys were in the enclosure before the Red-Tailed Black Cockatoo

@King of Komodo Dragons Thank you! They must have replaced the Palm Cockatoo that I saw in that enclosure a year ago.

The Palm Cockatoo was moved into the large netted exhibit with the lesser bird-of-paradise, so it's still there!

This is B. mindanensis actually - a more recent split. All of the rufous hornbills kept in the US are this species to my knowledge.

@King of Komodo Dragons I believe the normal rufous has an entirely red bill.
@StellarChaser Likely from a private breeder - they’re around in the US, DWA is not the only zoo with them

@jayjds2 @King of Komodo Dragons Yep - it's the bill colour - the sharp colour demarcation where the 'white' starts marks out mindanensis, while hydrocorax is all red - Colchester's 'pair' are one of each and this photo has a nice comparison: Rufous hornbill - ZooChat
