I recall in times before Beale [Wildlife] Park was less of a zoo as it is today and a 'nothing-in-particular' - it was converted from private property just before the 1960s when it was largely unchanged from a natural area with a train track. In the years to follow many children's developments would take place; including various animal enclosures.
In more recent times Beale has found nice footing as a proper zoo - with an interesting animal collection which continues to see new additions.
