Zoo Map - 2006

I could be mistaken, as they aren’t present on the ‘animal finder,’ but this map may just be the only Whipsnade map I have seen to actually acknowledge the presence of the gaur (the cattle-like creature near the elephants). One of Whipsnade’s nicest and largest species, and yet one which is never actually labelled. We have seen three map designs since, and they have even moved their enclosure (now in the former zebra and ostrich enclosure near the otters), but I haven’t seen them labelled until now.

I knew that the Lynx enclosure once held cheetahs, but had no idea that it was so recent, nor that there was ever a second lemur enclosures by the otters (current red panda enclosure, I assume?).

One would think that the zoo would promote the fact that they have Gaur as the species is extraordinary to see anywhere these days. They are towering, impressive beasts!
