@Lafone Those 1938 style names are wonderful and I like this map a lot, even though it lacks animal icons. The spelling is also interesting, with Nylghai and Virginian Deer on the map.
 
@Lafone Indeed, a lot of the roads and paddocks have a story behind them. Sadly nothing malicious behind this one though-it ,and the avenue, is an abbreviation of “cut through it.”

I always enjoyed the history behind Miss Joan’s Ride.
 
This map also makes you appreciate how “busy” the escarpment length of the zoo once was - big cats, bears, small mammals etc. The foundations of some of these exhibits can still be seen today, if you know where to look!

And I still miss the American bison.:(
 
@Panthera1981 awesome I didn’t know that abbreviation! I also miss the bison and moose :) I wish American animals would be a whipsnade feature while recognising they are pretty similar to lord of Eurasian species (bobcats, bears etc).
