I have no clue why the zoo thought it was good idea to not just maintain, but go out of their way to add these displays in the year 2023. Equally baffled as to why the AZA still allows this practice. Brookfield has a bright future ahead of itself, but this is a lousy way to start it off...
@MonkeyBat Definitely not folding tables, just a low-hanging barrier. They may be temporary as earlier concept art suggested a more permanent looking fence.
Without offering undue praise for the exhibit itself, I admit I'm relieved the "construction" is done. They've been promoting these displays since last fall and the only thing more embarrassing than having macaws on sticks is appearing unable to even afford the sticks.
I hope the master plan eventually includes a macaw aviary and maybe we can put some sloths on these displays or something.
