Very Old and Very Outdated “Arctic World” Concept Art

I oddly...love this plan?!?? Love the collection of species and circular flow of the exhibit.

@zoocentral I don’t even disagree with you. In a perfect world and with the adequate outdoor space for the larger animals, this plan would’ve been a dream come true.

@zoocentral me too! It would have been quite a nice looking exhibit and I would have liked to see it brought to fruition.

So this was scrapped and replaced with what area?

@Angie Selestino This exact concept never made it past... well... this. But an arctic area in Houston was once planned to be where a large part of the African Forest now resides. The only species for this area ever "confirmed" were polar bears but the plans eventually fell through and for the better in my opinion. Arctic fauna is just not fit to live in Houston.

@TheImmigrant1 what will happen to the arctic fauna if this was actually to happen?

Do you know what species is in the space covered by the glare? There also seems to be three small animal habitats above it.
