The new KidzWorld is expected to open later this month, replacing the current Rainforest KidzWorld which opened in November 2008. No word yet on what will become of the 2-hectare Rainforest KidzWorld site after it closes, but there were previous plans to redevelop it into a new Asian Elephant habitat. Perhaps it might be used in the interim as a holding site for the new animals being imported for the upcoming Rainforest Wild park.
Glad to see the zoo developing. Wonder what other new stuff is to come for the Zoo's master plan, remember there was supposed to be a new sea lion habitat where Frozen Tundra was
@noobmaster69 I understand the plan to turn Frozen Tundra into a sealion exhibit is being reconsidered in favour of redeveloping the existing sealion enclosure.
@Zooish Frozen Tundra being left as just the animal playground feels like a massive waste of
Hope they find a good use of all the Kidzworld space. Do we know any new animals being added for Rainforest Wild? Saw a construction wall for the Asian section with a sifaka of all animals
@noobmaster69 other plans are being considered for the old Frozen Tundra but nothing is confirmed yet.
The only new animals that have arrived for Rainforest Wild Asia are the Francois' Langurs and some reptiles. None of the new animals for Rainforest Wild Africa have arrived yet although the Okapis might arrive early next year.
@Casuarius_casuarius i haven't heard anything about arthropods but these could possibly be incorporated into the Cavern habitat or one of the indoor exhibit areas. I've not come across any plans for a butterfly aviary though.
