Fascinating to look at with what the park is now! Must've been before Przewalski's horses? DOn't see them on the map anywhere
I have very vauge memories of a lot of this. Every time I visit (or rather, visited) the red panda enclosure I have a flash of where the badger's used to be. I was wondering what the animal next to the fox was but then remembered the signs for it being a mole! Is that a grouse underneath the otter, and a golden eagle underneath the lynx?
Shown this to my dad, and he says their definitely wasn't a road through the current wolf wood whenever we visited, so this is at least before 2005! Not to date myself but I was 5 years old at the time, so I only have flashes of memories of things like the wild boar, the snowy/arctic mix, the wolves where the polar bears are now, the capercaillie charging at me
The park is obviously fantastic for what it is now, but I do wish I retained just a bit more of that 'native' flair
Thanks for your comments and analysis. The other two HWP maps that I uploaded into the gallery are from 1996 and 2002, and it seems as if this one is close to those two in terms of dates.
The map is inside a typical zoo flyer/pamphlet and there's actually a list of 26 species. Here it is:

European Bison, Przewalski's Horse, Mouflon, Reindeer, Red Deer, Roe Deer, Highland Steer, Soay Sheep and Wild Boar.
Capercaillie, Black Grouse, Red Grouse, "Pheasant", Golden Eagle, Eagle Owl, Snowy Owl and Tawny Owl. Plus unnamed non-captive waterfowl.
