After the interesting discussion prompted by Tim’s B&w pics I wandered about looking for old enclosures today - noticed this old overgrown but rather nicely structured sloping staircase near the bears, opposite the penguins and behind the big slope with the old water tower. Wondered what it was?

Sadly nothing exciting. It’s associated with the water tower and was part of a reservoir that in turn was associated with Ouseley pond. Old zoo maps state the pond housed flamingo, but I’ve often seen the occasional wallaby ascend the stairs! I’m not sure if the pond’s still there. Last time I saw it was a rather muddy puddle!
