Rainforest Wild Asia (under construction)

Part of a simulated karst outcrop being built at the Western tip of Rainforest Wild Asia. According to plans I came across, this karst habitat will supposedly house the Francois' Langurs and will have rock climbing features for the human visitors.

The park will feature other extensive rockwork features, including a roughly 300-metre long Cavern habitat along the Southern flank of the park, and a Tiger habitat set against a tiered waterfall on the Northern flank. The Northern and Southern flanks run alongside public roads and the rockwork features are intended to shield the park from the sights and sounds of traffic.

@Zooish, On my way back from Bird Paradise in Mandai Wildlife Reserve, I saw a signage for colugos. It said something about not being enough trees yet, so they are adding more poled for the colugos to cling onto. Is mandai Planning to house Colugos in Rainforest Wild Asia?

@Dr. Wolverine the animal hospital at Singapore Zoo cares for rescued wild Colugos, but they are released when they have recovered. I don't think there have been any successful attempts to provide long term care for Colugos in captivity anywhere in the world. The poles you mentioned are for the wild Colugos. There are plans to set up a new native wildlife rescue and rehab centre in Rainforest Wild too.

@Zooish, Speaking of wild colugos, at night safari, a keeper at Lion Lookout was telling us that wild colugos accidentally go into the lion enclosure and get mauled. It is proven that they go inside the enclosures because I spotted one in the Sloth Bear exhibit.

@Dr. Wolverine They are indigenous to the region after all. It's not too far fetched for them to enter enclosures and exhibits once in awhile.

The same goes for other native wildlife like macaques, varanids, snakes like king cobra, pythons, yellow-ringed catsnakes & Wagler's pit vipers, Malayan box and black marsh turtles, etc.

Occasionally, even wild pangolins roam the zoo grounds after hours.
