Congo Gorilla Forest - Spotted African Lungfish Tank

Taken 10/18/23
This is one of my favorite terraria. It is supposed to represent the lungfish living in a puddle that formed in an elephant’s footprint. It is hard to tell in this picture, but in real life the footprint shape if the indentation is much more distinct. It’s such a unique concept for a small exhibit like this one.

Signage implies the inhabitant is the Spotted Lungfish, not the West African (P. annectens)

While a unique exhibit concept, I can't say I'm a fan of the amount of space the fish is given here, even if they are sluggish. The species in question here is documented at up to 52 inches in length and 22 pounds. They do average smaller in captivity but routinely pass the 30 inch mark.
