King penguins

An undated, vintage postcard seen at a local antique store. On the back, the card misidentifies the flock of king penguins as "Emperor penguins".
The back of the postcard reads:
Emperor penguins are one of the species exhibited in the Penguinarium. This building is one of the largest and best-equipped structures of its kind in the world.
Detroit Zoological Park
P.O. Box 39, Royal Oak, Michigan 48068

I'm thinking there's an error or miscommunication on the part of the maker - the photo shows King Penguins.

Although they appear very similar, the difference that is most obvious from the picture is the beak. Kings have the longest beaks in the penguin world, while emperors have shorter beaks that have a more pronounced downward curve,.

When this penguinarium opened at the Detroit Zoo in 1968 it was the first zoo building in the world designed entirely for penguins, and housed king, macaroni and rockhopper penguins. It was replaced in 2016 by the $21 million Polk Penguin Conservation Center, which is now the largest penguinarium in the world. Gentoo and chinstrap penguins were added to the new habitat. There's a good picture of the new exhibit here on ZooChat.
