Cologne lemur house

Its amazing what mulch and some potted vegetation can do for a viewing area...you may never have to sweep the floor, too.

As of last month, this house had Belted Ruffed, Red Ruffed, Red-bellied, Greater Bamboo and Sclater's (Blue-eyed) Lemurs. 'Normal' Black and White Ruffed were labelled, but nowhere to be seen. It's even more well planted now than in this image. The house will be demolished before long, unfortunately, to make way for the new hippo house.

When I was here in December I saw the info about a new hippo house, but didn't realise it was going to be where the lemur house is.This is a bit sad as I like this house, hope the lemur's get a great new area, and the hippo's too.
Is the old hippo / Rhino house staying put because if I remember that's a really old building so maybe it can't be pulled down?

Thats plain wrong.
The lion-tailed-maquaces part of the house was broken down due construction of the hippo-house. The rest will stay as it is.

Good news if so, but it definitely looked from the maps of the new hippo house around the zoo that the whole house was gone - the hippos' area went right up to the giraffe house as far as we could tell. A few of us even spent some time specifically photographing the house before it went!

On the sign is a very old plan of the idea for a hippohouse. That what will be build wont need to demolish the lemurhouse :)

I stand corrected then - excellent news!
