@Swampy wow, that was quick! Checking out images it looks like you're right, thank you never seen a Woodcock before, and wouldn't have expected to find evidence of one in such a big city as Birmingham!
@Crowthorne they often migrate over/through urban areas in autumn/winter, typically flying by night. They turn up in the strangest places sometimes as a result.
I concur with @Swampy that's certainly a woodcock wing! I'd be adding it to my collection if I were you as I've only got a left wing from this species! Cracking find @Crowthorne
@bongorob They are sometimes attracted by light when migrating at night, as such they are sometimes not uncommon in city parks on migration and they have windows as their main nemesis...
