Why were these animals even castrated? Maybe I don not have the full story, but castrating an endangered species when the overall goal is to breed them does not sound like a smart decision in my opinion.
@UngulateNerd92 - Population management. Excess males are a common problem for herd species, and banteng are no exception. There are only a limited number of banteng holders, and they don’t do well in bachelor herds. Castrating less valuable males allows them to be maintained within the herd when homes cannot be found for them.
