I'd seen the second small mammal tunnel discussed on here before, but this is the first hard confirmation I've seen indicating I would've actually visited it as a kid. Interesting to see that the South America section was also still there at this point - the hippo and lower South American area on this map currently function as a single babirusa enclosure, while the upper one has cinereous vultures. I've found videos showing that this South American area housed capybara, guanaco, Baird's tapir and rhea simultaneously, as well as a forum post suggesting that it also included giant anteater and a brocket species. That's quite the assortment for such a small area, but man I wish I had actual memories of seeing it. Same for the other small mammal tunnel. There'd be some lifers in there for sure.
Thanks for the information! The map makes it seem as if the zoo was very small, which is interesting as there were plenty of ABC mammals. It would be neat to get a comprehensive species list for both 'Small Mammals' tunnels. Maybe one day a zoo nerd on this site will provide us with that.

Species were constantly being changed since the 70s. It even held Leopards Pumas and Jaguars at one time but never in the 90s. 1995 It would have had Saki Monkeys, Tamarins,Lemurs and Meerkats among others.
The south American exhibit was going to include other exhibits according to the master plan to create a loop that included Asian Elephants, Black Rhino and White Rhino as well as Brazillian Tapir but this never was completed.

To answer the Small Mammal question this is everything I recall from 1975 when it first opened,
SMN- Bengal Tiger, White Nosed Coati, Black Howler Monkey, Puma, African Crested Porcupine,Hoffman's Sloth, Binturong, White Face Saki, Jaguar
In the now Demolished SMS- Amur Leopard, Matschie's Tree Kangaroo, Bat Eared Fox, Pallas Cat, Sugar Glider, Smooth Coated and Asian Small Clawed Otter in an underwater exhibit that later held alligators, Black Backed Jackal, Debrazza Monkey, Brown Hyena, Aardvark
I read somewhere Giant Anteaters were to be placed here but I'm certain they were only ever in the South American Exhibit although Tamandua were in one of the tunnels at some point.
