A returned species for the zoo. Their lone male had been kept behind the scenes for over a year to make way for the growing herd of hog deer. However, five new animals arrived from Jinan Zoo in November, and all six are now on display. Jinan is currently the only Chinese zoo actively breeding the species, which got their original stock from Shanghai, while Shanghai imported their animals from Rotterdam in the 90s.
