@Summer Tanager Thanks. It is local guides that pointed to us, we could pass by 100 days without seeing it I guess.
I think uroplatus have some favorite trees and once you know how it looks and more or less where to search, there is reasonable chance of finding them.
 
@Therabu That's good to know. I'm amazed by how well camouflaged this individual is! I can see its head pretty well, but it's body, legs, and tail blend in with the bark and lichens on the tree!
 
These guides can be amazing.

I even found Uroplatus twice when in Madagascar by grabbing a tree trunk for support where the bark turned out to be Uroplatus sikorae.
 
@lintworm that is something you could not do in Brazil for example. There is urticating caterpillars that could kill you if you happen to put your whole hand on a group of them.

I have already experienced a few of them on my leg, on top of my trousers and already had a few days of burning!
