This looks like a remarkable exhibit, given the space and size of the animals (although I do have some issues with restricting the flight of birds)! Did you have any luck seeing the duiker?
@Kalaw - For what it’s worth, San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance as an organization has come out and said that they will no longer be flight restricting any birds at either of their facilities. Unfortunately, given the nature of how birds have been managed historically/at other facilities — many of the birds in the collection are already flight-restricted, like these storks.
@Kalaw I did not see any duikers in this exhibit, just the storks. It is an excellent enclosure, although I was disappointed to find that it no longer holds sitatunga which made it especially memorable in the past. Without a larger antelope the exhibit isn’t nearly as dynamic as it used be.
@Kudu21 it’s great to hear that the parks will be discontinuing this practice. I was a bit taken aback by just how many wing-clipped birds were displayed at the Safari Park in particular.
