Children's Trail - Calamian Deer

@SwampDonkey This is all my recollection so feel free to correct me, but I recall they imported a number of critically endangered Calamian Deer a decade or so ago with the goal of establishing an ex-situ population in the AZA. Despite successful breeding, the appetite to house this species was negligible, which led a number of individuals to be sterilized and breeding to be nearly halted. At this point there are at best a few elderly individuals left. We have enough room to support three tiger subspecies, but not enough interest to support one critically endangered deer species...
 
@DelacoursLangur oh wow, I had no idea. They are really cool little deer too, such a waste of resources in that case. Sometimes you wonder what is going on in the meetings that allows this to happen. I have my opinions on tiger subspecies, they are not generally received well on the forums.
