A view inside the tower in the Owl Monastery in Cologne Zoo, Germany. This theme consists of a walkthrough aviary and two smaller aviaries. I can’t remember exactly which species lives in here but I do remember the black storks, common barn owls (as you can see in this shot), Eurasian great gray owls and Eurasian kestrels.

A charming exhibit which undoubtedly reminds the sensitive zoo visitor of the importance of old buildings as refuges, roosts and nesting-areas for our European avifauna.Cologne Zoo is obligatory for the aviary enthusiast.
