Cologne Zoo - South American primate exhibit

The netted outdoor exhibit for South American monkeys in Cologne Zoo, Germany. This exhibit houses red howler monkeys and white-lipped tamarins and is absolutely fabulous. It is not huge but perfectly adequate in size, has incredibly dense vegetation, lots of logs, branches and ropes for climbing, live trees and grass and a shallow stream running through.

It looks amazing and is that pole that's kind of in the middle sticking above some leaves to hold the netting up because if it is then the exhibit must be quite tall as well?

Yes, that is indeed the support pole for the netting. You can also just make out the other metal pole to the left. Even though the exhibit isn't huge the monkeys can easily disappear in the dense foliage.

A textbook example of how hugely important great horticulture is to the success of a zoo.Every great zoo has a great curator of horticulture behind it.This exhibit would be nothing special without the splendid planting.Number one mistake of zoos today - investing €€€€€€€€€€ in architecture and €€ in horticulture.

:D :D :D I couldn't agree more!

And the lushness and landscape interest of this exhibit is inspiring.

@foz
Yes, they are breeding every year. Cologne has two groups, unfortunately one breeding male died in spring.
