The last saiga in Cologne Zoo, Germany. The saiga was one of the zoos absolute rarities. This is now a historic photo as the last saiga in Cologne died in October 2009, thereby ending the era of saigas outside of Russia.
Cologne has always a good breeding herd of the Saiga, but three or four years ago, a wild fox gets into their paddock and kills the young one(s), both females jumped into the fence in panic and must be euthanized because of broken legs or something...
So, only two male saigas survived, both dying last year
