Temperate Territory - Japanese Macaque Exhibit

Taken 10/19/23
I saw this exhibit about 20 years ago and really enjoyed it. Does it still hold up as a good exhibit in your opinion, @Dhole dude ? How does it compare in quality to the snow monkey exhibit at Minnesota Zoo?

@DavidBrown I thought it was a very nice exhibit, although it is slightly on the smaller side and lacks many (if any) climbing structures. It is certainly much, much more aesthetically pleasing than the collapsing concrete mess of Minnesota’s, but from a purely functional perspective Minnesota might just edge out Central Park. It’s also worth noting Minnesota has a massive troop of over 20 Macaques while I only saw two individuals at Central Park, which makes the Macaques at Minnesota much more enjoyable to watch. Overall though, I would probably rank Central Parks exhibit better than Minnesotas, based mostly on the fact that Minnesota’s current exhibit is very unattractive, especially when compared to Central Park’s gorgeous Island. Fortunately, Minnesota will soon be renovating the Macaque exhibit to (hopefully) make the exhibit more structurally sound and bring the exhibit up to modern standards.
