Did you notice that they changed the scientific name? They were signed as A. caraya up until last year. I found no indication that A. nigerrima was split from A. caraya, and they seem to have the same individuals they always had. I am going to ask around, but I think this is an error (but wait until you see the Laughing Kookaburra signage).
@Astrotom3000 There are no A nigerrima in North America and they were never split from A. caraya but rather from A. belzebul (also not in NA). This is 100% a case of the graphics intern making a mistake with the name.
@SusScrofa thank you for the response. I figured it was most likely an error, but I wanted to be extra sure before jumping to that conclusion given how inconsistent zoos are sometimes when it comes to adapting to new taxonomy.
