Covering the space that was the greenhouse exhibits, which most recently featured exhibits for Cuvier's dwarf caiman and shingleback skink (and one unoccupied exhibit).
I always thought it would be great if they merged all three greenhouse enclosures into one large Komodo dragon exhibit. Super cool they seem to be going through with that idea.
@pachyderm pro I had figured that might have been what they were up to when they boarded up the Greenhouse exhibits, but it seemed a little too much like wishful thinking.
Wow. I can’t believe the St. Louis Zoo is returning to bringing back Komodo dragons for their Herpetarium! I wonder what the concept art for the Komodos will look like since they’re my favorite lizards..
@Matt G I was also very excited to see they were returning. Even though their old exhibit was not the best, I have a lot of nostalgia for my times as a child seeing them there. I am super excited for their return and I am also excited to see what the exhibit ends up looking like.
Glad this space will be back (it was a noticeable gap during my visit) and that it will be host to a real showstopper species. Komodo Dragon are pretty much the perfect choice. I'm especially glad as the Illinois/Wisconsin/Indiana/Missouri region almost completely lacks Komodo dragon (I think there are only one or perhaps two holders in that area; definitely none in IL) so it does give some regional diversity.
