I saw one of these guys on my first day in Belize, actually on a low branch over the turtle/crocodile pond at the Belize Zoo! Such a cool, little bird. Was the first of four wild kingfisher species I saw that trip.
@Neil chace They're so cute! This guy was also on a low branch over a pond. He didn't seem to have much fear of people, he didn't seem fazed by me standing right at the edge of the pond. In fact, none of the species using this pond seemed to mind, which also included Bare-throated Tiger-Heron, Russet-naped Wood-Rail, and Green Basilisk (and Feral Dogs...).
