Taken on 13th June 2024 in Winged Sanctuary. First time ever seeing such this genuine beauty. There's other small brown feathered birds in this enclosure too which I'm unsure if they're slightly grown chicks or another species
However unlike the VERY beautiful shots of this bird by other ZooChatters, this is probably the most realistic look at how average visitors will get to see them lmao
@LeMandaiEnthusiast‧ yes, this enclosure is very challenging for photography, as the exhibit is positioned below you and the mesh messes with the focus. I’m really glad Mandai’s managed to breed them.
Makes me wonder how all the ZooChatters got such lovely shots of them up close. Aside from cameras, I'm sure they must've gotten lucky with the positions of the Pigeons
Thank you for posting this photo - I think that every photo of a Negros Bleeding-Heart Dove is interesting and I'm happy to see this species breeding in captivity. A few years ago, there were none in captivity - no insurance population in case something happed to the small wild one.
You're giving me too much credit for a more realistic look at the Pigeons lmao. But that's quite the interested story to know, I'm just glad to see there's currently a backup plan for things to go wrong
Hopefully this species will eventually thrive and more will be released into the wild at some point
