Western lowland gorilla, Black crested mangabey and Red-tailed moustached monkey exhibit -Zoo du bassin d'Arcachon (2024)

The moustached monkeys were signed but not seen.
Thanks for all these pictures from an underrepresented zoo. I can't say I am impressed by any of these primate enclosures... They seem to be designed by someone still living in the 1980s/1990s. As if all these animals like lawns & open playgrounds without any real structure or protection against the sun.

@lintworm You are welcome! I love bringing underrepresented parks to ZooChat, I had this one under my radar for quite a while.
I had the same feeling with most new enclosures at the park, which is disappointing. This gorilla enclosure opened last year and it already looks outdated, I especially disliked the choice of this water moat, in the case of this first island I felt as if the moat was larger than the main enclosure.
The worst offenders are the langur and capuchin exhibits, barren cages with just a wooden climbing frame connected to a barren indoor house with just a wooden climbing frame. No shade, no cover, no variation on different materials to be used by the animals, with the worst offender of them all being that the exhibits were designed and built not too long ago.
