Western pygmy hippopotamus exhibit within african aviary -Zoo du bassin d'Arcachon (2024)

This is an interesting exhibit! (and I mean that as a complement) I don't think that I've seen pygmy hippos housed with birds before, and this is quite a diverse group with at least Maribou Stork, Abdim's Stork, Sacred Ibis, White Stork, Fulvous Whistling-Duck, and maybe Glossy Ibis!

@Summer Tanager, I can confirm the glossy ibises, and you can add yellow-billed stork, African spoonbill, night heron, cattle egret and comb duck in there! I know that the lone goliath heron living in the South American aviary was once housed here.
It was a very lively aviary, I was able to see yellow-bill and Abdim stork chicks on their nest and I'm pretty sure a couple of marabous had some too, It's not as impressive as other big megafauna+birds aviaries you can find out there (many of which are at french zoos) but it's still a nice in-between.

Thank you for the additional information and it's great to hear that the Abdim's and Yellow-billed Storks were breeding on exhibit! This sounds very impressive to me and I haven't seen any of the mixed aviaries that you mentioned in the French zoos, so I don't have higher expectations. This exhibit looks fantastic to me.
