Female Madagascar Partridge at Winged Sanctuary (24 May 2024), housed together with Speckled Mousebird, Madagascar Blue Pigeon, and other African birds.
To be honest - I'm not 100% sure either. I think it's a combination between luck, larger aperture, and better autofocus system? We borrowed a camera with a better AF for few days and it really helped a lot. It's not foolproof though and I still had difficulties if the birds were moving too fast. I had dozens of failed ones for every good photo. Our usual camera setup has a worse AF and occasional manual focusing is needed.
Also if I recall correctly, on the day I took these photos, the sunlight wasn’t too harsh as it was rather overcast.
