@Kifaru Bwana Bongo is long gone now. She was the product of a baby pair (Joe and Bongo) raised together (with much human contact) and kept together for many years. Joe was a very quiet and humanised male and Bongo may have became dominant as a result- she never bred with him either which may have had some effect on her too. She was later moved in with the breeding group but the silverback of that, Mamfe, was also handraised( he was the first gorilla born at Jersey) and always appeared to me to be somewhat socially subservient to the females, so Bongo continued with her dominant 'male' behaviour throughout most of her life.
