Taken on 15th July 2024 in Reptopia. As a little way to commemorate World Snake Day, I figured I'd post something with my favourite legless reptiles.
It's very rare for me to see the King Cobra moving outside of its den, even luckier I got to see it enter its pool which was a first. While it never fully entered the water, this is my only time seeing this behaviour since that one video on YouTube published like 11 years ago
The usual stuff. Just that the former big Caiman Lizard enclosure (that no longer houses Caiman Lizards) is closed for renovation, the Poison Dart Frog and Emerald Tree Boa enclosure seems empty and recently we added Yellow Spotted Tree Toads to a new vivarium.
@PangolinLover0514 Alright! So the caiman lizard exhibit as well as the neotropical walk through both them are closed? I wonder why there are so many changes taking place in RepTopia all the time despite of the fact that it opened only a few years ago. Do you know the reason for the ceaseless shuffling that takes place in RepTopia and a few other zones in the Zoo?
@Chapman'szebra the large tank now houses Philippine sailfin lizards, Vietnamese pond turtles and a green iguana. It and a couple of other enclosures are just temporarily closed for refurbishment. The aviary has been closed since Bird Paradise opened and is being used as a quarantine zone, no idea if and when it'll reopen. The zoo has a huge reptile collection and they swap out the species perhaps to test out what arrangements work etc
