Calvin's back has always been seen protruding in many pictures I've seen of him, is that just a trait of his or is he in poor health?
This animal is in very poor condition, I know so amny bad things about the keeping of elephants at Hannover Themepark, but this picture is really terrible. I hope, that elephant is now much better in Ostrava than in this park, so I can't understand why the EAZA allows that park to keep elephants in such bad exhibits in and outside and is allowing circus perfomances with them, its disgusting, what they are doing at this palce with the elephants. I hope for all elephnats in europe, that the EAZA will forbid hands on contact to elephants in all collections someday. Are not enough keepers lost their life til now ?

All elephants at Hannover Themepark have to do the circus perfomances, and a few montha go, I could se ehow the clafs are got their"training". You know, I've worked with elephants many years, and this is not the way to keep this animals in zoos.
Germany isn't a good country for elephants in zoos.
Thats right, but noone of them is keeping elephants as they should be kept, so just one zoo is doing completly hands off, all other zoos are doing free contact to the females, which is the most bad way to work with elephants. A lot of accidents happen every year in german zoos with elephants. They are the most dangerous mammals, more than lions or tigers, but no german zoo is doing free contact to big cats....

espicially bull elephants but also cows as many people feel cows are much more docile, which is true but they can turn nasty.
which zoo is keeping hands off?
